Program for December 2021

Topic of the month:

Future Forum 2030 - Review and outlook

In the last month of the Science Year, the University of Hohenheim takes stock and discusses where the bioeconomy currently stands. Above all, however, it looks ahead - to the future of the bio-based economy in Germany and the world.
Off-topic events complement the thematic focus.

Unless otherwise noted, all events are held in German.

On Wednesday, 8 December, Markus Götz from the Department of Conversion Technologies of Biobased Resources will speak at the Remstal Academy about the opportunities of the bioeconomy and show which challenges still need to be addressed to ensure the success of the raw material turnaround.

He will use vivid examples from everyday life and science to illustrate what Prof. Dr. Andrea Kruse's team at the University of Hohenheim understands by cycle-oriented bioeconomy.

In the summer, the University of Hohenheim launched the creative competition FUTURE MADE BY YOU for the second time in the Bioeconomy Science Year 2020/21. In it, students were asked to submit ideas for a greener future.

By the deadline on November 7, we had received numerous entries from Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, Lower Saxony, and Rhineland-Palatinate - including a wide variety of submissions with really great documentation of sustainable projects or videos of environmental protection campaigns, school gardens, or even research ideas.

The young bioeconomists did not make it easy for the jury members Prof. Dr. Johannes Steidle, Dr. Evelyn Reinmuth, and Marina Moser, as they had to select the best ideas from the submissions.

Now the time has come - the FUTURE MADE BY YOU creative competition will end with an online awards ceremony on 2 December at 3 p.m.

The lucky winners will present their ideas. Afterwards the jury will announce the ranking and award the prize money of € 100 for 3rd place, € 200 for 2nd place and € 300  for 1st place.
