German Research Foundation (DFG)

Research training groups

DFG research training groups (GRKs) are institutions of higher education for the promotion of early career researchers and are funded by the DFG for a maximum of nine years. The focus is on the qualification of doctoral students as part of a thematically focused research program and a structured qualification concept. An interdisciplinary orientation of the research training groups is encouraged. The aim is to prepare doctoral candidates intensively for the complex job market of "science" and at the same time to support their early academic independence.

GRK 2366: Adaptation of maize-based agricultural production systems for food, feed and biomass production to limited phosphate supplies (A-MAIZE) (IRTG with China)
Spokesperson: Prof. Dr. Torsten Müller, Dept. of Fertilization and Soil Chemistry (340i)
Running time: since 2018

GRK 1070:  Modeling Material Flows and Production Systems for Sustainable Resource Use in Intensified Crop Production in the North China Plain (IRTG with China)
