Career prospects

Diverse career prospects in the business and education sectors

You have completed your Bachelor's degree and would now like to finally enter professional life? In addition to your interest in certain topics and industries, as well as your personal talents and strengths, your possible professional field of activity depends primarily on two things: Your elective area (school orientation or company orientation) and your practical experience in the context of school and company internships.

Depending on whether you decide to go into business or pursue teaching, you will have different career prospects. Job prospects are bright in both fields. As there is a shortage of skilled workers, experts in human resource management play a key role in recruiting, training, and retaining suitable employees. Teachers are also in high demand, especially if they can teach one of the shortage subjects.

In industry and business, for example, we picture you in the following areas:

  • Continuing and advanced professional education (human resource management)
  • Human resource, continuing and advanced education management (human resource management)
  • Human resource and organizational development (human resource management)

  • Extracurricular adult education (public and private providers)
  • Educational counselling and assistance with development
  • Analogous professional activities to the degree program Business Administration and Economics (depending on practical experience in companies and individual specialization during studies)

If you want to work as a teacher, you must first complete a Master's degree in Education for Business and Economics and a traineeship. In education, you have the following career options:

  • Teaching position at vocational schools with a focus on business and economics
  • Activities in education administration, policy, and research, for example at chambers, associations, or ministries. You can find an overview of examples on the page www.bildungsserver.de.

Master’s studies

You’re still thirsting for knowledge? Do you have your eye on becoming a teacher?

At the University of Hohenheim, you can gain further qualifications with the following Master's degree programs:

If you have decided to become a teacher and are eager to pass on your knowledge at schools with a business focus, a Master's degree in Education for Business and Economics and a subsequent traineeship are mandatory. At the University of Hohenheim, you can seamlessly continue on after your Bachelor's degree. Does a career in research appeal to you instead?
