!!! Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this offer unfortunately cannot take place at the moment !!!

The pilot project “Student for a Day” gives you the chance to get to try out your preferred degree program at the University of Hohenheim.

Accompanied by “real” students, you get to know what everyday life as a student is like, take part in lectures and seminars, learn about important institutions at the University, and explore the campus.

  1. Get to know the University of Hohenheim’s degree programs and choose the program that interests you most. If you are still undecided about which program suits you best, then please first use the Central Student Counselling Service’s advising service.
  2. Register using the online registration form (around 3 weeks in advance) - we will then find a mentor and put you in contact with one another.
  3. Prepare for your visit: The better informed you are, the more you will benefit from your day at the University. Come up with questions you can ask your mentor. What do you find particularly interesting about your desired degree program? What do you want to make sure you see on campus? The building blocks listed below offer you a chance to get some ideas.
  4. Your day together at the University: You will meet up with your mentor as planned and spend a fascinating and enriching day on campus!
  5. Mandatory elements: Central Student Counselling Center - here you will receive your certificate of participation and can reflect on your day or further steps.

The individual elements serve as an orientation guide and can be selected and combined individually according to your interests in coordination with your mentor.

You do not need to complete all elements. On the contrary: Plan enough time for each of the elements. Your mentor will help you structure your day together.

If you have any questions, just let me know :-)”

In addition, I take part in various sports activities at the University (e.g. basketball, Hohenheim Football Cup,...) and help with organizing university parties. If you have any questions, please contact me! :)"

FAQ

I’d like to study, but I don’t really know which subject yet - can I still participate?

If you don’t know yet which subject you’d like to study, then please first use the orientation offers from the Central Student Counselling Service or make a personal advising appointment via email.

My preferred degree program doesn’t have a student mentor...

Our mentors work on a voluntary basis, and their first commitment is to their studies. If you can’t find a mentor for the degree program you want to study, then please send an email to “Student for a Day”.

Will my school let me go to the university day?

Usually, schools will release you to participate in events for study and career orientation. Please first talk to your school or your guidance counselor whether that also applies to you.

How can I best prepare for my day as a student?

You will benefit the most from your day at the University of Hohenheim if you have gathered a lot of information about your degree program before you come. Write down your questions and, before you come, think about which institutions (e.g. Central Student Counselling Center, academic program advising, labs, library, etc.) you would like to visit.
