Relay Race

Every year at the end of June/beginning of July the starting signal is given for the Hohenheim relay race under the balcony of Hohenheim Palace.

University Sports has been running this grassroots sporting event for 20 years, and the relay is sure to receive an outstanding response again this year.

Teams of 5 have to cover distances of different lengths (approx. 750 - 1500m) of about 5000m in total.
Almost 70 teams, i.e. more than 350 active participants from the university, alumni, and some guests will then race again in the Botanical Garden for victory, "just for fun," or simply according to the Olympic motto "being there is everything".

The classic university hierarchy is usually turned on its head during the Hohenheim relay race, as students outrun their professors on the middle distances. Especially the final runners have to master the merciless ascent to the southern Palace portal at the end of their run. The teams can be found in the individual faculties, among friends, or simply playing sports together within the university sports.

Further information about the Hohenheim relay race such as dates, registration etc. can be found in our sports program at the beginning of the summer semester.
