Degree programs with admission restrictions

Admission restrictions for degree programs are made when the number of applications to a university exceed the number of available university spots. The universities must then select the future students from the applicants according to certain selection criteria.

Degree programs with nation-wide admission restrictions

Degree programs such as medicine, for example, have so many applicants that admissions are restricted throughout Germany, i.e. nationwide. Study places are allocated by a central institution, the Foundation for University Admissions (SfH), formerly ZVS.

There are no degree programs at the University of Hohenheim with nationwide admission restrictions.

Degree programs with local admission restrictions

Many degree programs have only a limited number of places. The universities allocate the study places themselves and select the applicants according to the criteria of the University Admission Ordinance.

The University of Hohenheim participates in the Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure with its Bachelor's degree programs that have a limited number of places.

If a certain degree program has a limited number of places at one university, this does not automatically mean that it is also has a limited number of places at another university.
