Terrestrial geo-biosphere interactions in a changing world

Vital resources such as the air we breathe and our drinking water are the result of interactions between the geosphere and the biosphere. Understanding these interactions in detail is therefore essential for the well-being of humanity. The current human impact on ecosystems is unprecedented, but the underlying laws of nature are universal.

The Cluster of Excellence at the University of Tübingen includes researchers from the University of Hohenheim and the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research. Hohenheim benefits from the construction of a unique research facility in Europe – the Diversitorium. This makes it possible to test the interaction of different soil structures and biodiversity with a large number of variables.

“With TERRA, the University of Tübingen is making an important contribution to biodiversity research and species conservation. As the University of Hohenheim, we are proud to support this with three departments.”

Julia Fritz-Steuber, Vice President for Research, Early Career Researchers, and Transfer
