State teaching prize

Award-giver:Ministry of Science, Research and Arts (MWK)
Applicants:
  • Teaching award winners from the universities
  • Academic staff members who teach independently
  • Working groups (information on which person took the initiative for the group and the contribution made by each person)
  • Universities’ organizational units responsible for teaching, e.g. faculties, institutes, and seminars
Nomination rightsThe University of Hohenheim may submit one nomination. The decision is made by the Senate upon the suggestion of the Senate Commission for Teaching. Candidates may be nominated by the departmental student representatives and the commissions for study affairs.
Amount of award:€50,000; the award is to be used for teaching/educational purposes to be decided upon by the award winner.
Frequency of award:Every other year alternating with the years of the state research award. Expected to be awarded again in 2025.
Criteria for award (not final)

The following will be considered

  • Innovative concepts and/or
  • Especially motivating personalities in university teaching within a subject area
  • Various types of courses with didactically very well-prepared accompanying material and didactically particularly well-considered structure; particularly proven courses or modules can also be considered; also courses that contribute to students being very well prepared to master everyday university life
  • Tutorials or orientation events
