Procedures
If you would like to limit the number of participants for a course, please get in touch with the person responsible for the module and the degree program coordinator in a timely manner.
The decision about limiting participants is made by
- the Dean of Studies in Faculty A.
- In Faculty N: the examiner (module supervisor)
- In Faculty W: the Faculty Council
The limitation of the number of participants will be noted
- in the module catalog under the section “Comments.” The registration procedure and registration period are also noted.
- In the Faculties A and W, in the course catalog it can also be found under the section “brief description.”
- In the Faculty N, in the course catalog it can also be found under the section “maximum number of participants.”
It is generally possible to register for courses
- using the e-learning platform ILIAS
- using the exam administration system KVS from Faculty W
- via e-mail, telephone or a personal discussion with the department
In the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, there is a restriction:
- For all Bachelor’s and Master’s modules that have a limited number of participants, at the beginning of the semester the students must register via ILIAS within a set registration period.
- Those responsible for the module are notified via the coordinators of Master’s students who do not yet have access to ILIAS.
(Decision of the Faculty Council for the Agricultural Sciences from 21 Jan 2015)
It is generally possible to allocate spots according to the following criteria:
- in the order of registration
- according to pre-set selection criteria (e.g. degree program, bindingness of the module, number of subject-related semesters, aptitude test, letter of motivation)
Students for whom the respective module is compulsory or the last module that needs to be completed to finish a degree program, must always be admitted.
In the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, there is an additional requirement:
- The priority list according to which students are admitted must be made public in the module catalog and on ILIAS for all modules with a limited number of participants.
- Relevant details for the priority list must be asked during the registration on ILIAS.
- The allocation of spots is done using the priority list at the end of the registration period.
- Insofar as no other notifications are made, if students have the same priority then a lottery will decide on admission to the course.
(Decision of the Faculty Council for the Agricultural Sciences from 21 Jan 2015)
- Faculty A:
- The registration period for all non-block modules with a limited number of participants and all block modules with a limited number of participants begins at least one week before the start of the lecture period, and ends at the end of the first week after the start of the lecture period. This also applies to modules that take place during the lecture-free period, but not to modules in block period 1.
- For block modules with a limited number of participants in block period 1, registration begins at least two weeks before the start of the lecture period and ends one week before the start of the lecture period.
- The admission letter for the Master’s degree programs informs students about the registration periods and registration via ILIAS.
(Decision of the Agricultural Sciences Faculty Council of 21 Jan 2015)
- Faculty N:
For semi-elective, elective and additional modules, students should normally register in ILIAS before the start of the module. The deadlines are announced via the module catalog and via the degree program coordinator. - Faculty W:
Please announce the registration period on your department homepage.
