B2Br4.2PBr3 was formed and reacted at 350.degree. to give closo-1,2,-P2B4Br4 (1) in 25% yield. 1 Neither rearranges to the 1,6-isomer nor decomps. to an appreciable extent upon heating to 650.degree.. B2Cl4 reacts with equimolar amts. of either P(SiMe3)3 or Cl2PCH2CH2PCl2 to give B2Cl4.P(SiMe3)3 (2) and B2Cl4.Cl2PCH2CH2PCl2, resp. 2 Represents a phosphine-diborane(4) monoadduct with 2 B atoms in different coordination environment.
