Description
Intraspecific communication in many mite species involves the use of pheromones. In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Stefan Schulz, Organische Chemie, Universität Braunschweig, pheromones in mites are identified and their biological function as sexual-, alarm-, or aggregation pheromones elucidated. This research aims to the development of pheromone traps for the monitoring of stored product pest mites and hygiene pests house dust mite.
