Studies

Hands-on, interdisciplinary, individual

In the Bachelor’s degree program in Nutritional Science, you will deal with all phenomena related to human nutrition. The spectrum of topics ranges from the influence of food components on cellular and bodily functions and their analysis, to the interactions between microorganisms and foods and people’s nutritional behavior, to the role of nutrition in maintaining health and in the prevention and therapy of diseases. This means you’ll deal with topics like human biology, biochemistry, nutritional medicine, dietetics, anatomy, physiology, food microbiology, molecular biology, nutritional psychology, and immunology. By choosing one of the three profiles - Applied Nutritional Science, Nutritional Biochemistry, or Food Quality - as well as a professional internship, you can set individual emphases in your studies.

Research, consulting, quality assurance

As a graduate of the Bachelor’s degree program in Nutritional Science, you will be well qualified to understand and research nutrition-related diseases, provide expert advice on nutrition, and assess the quality of food. Thanks to the interdisciplinary education, a wide variety of career paths are open to you, e.g., collaboration in studies in the field of research and development, specialized journalism, quality management, nutritional counseling as well as teaching activities. Possible employers range from food and pharmaceutical companies to universities, health insurance companies, health authorities, and clinics, as well as publishing houses and professional societies.
