Questions when registering for a German Language Course?

Please read the following information first. If you have any further questions, please contact the Language Center.

  • Online registration: The system doesn't know your name?
Please write your name exactly as it appears on the placement test or on your course certificate: Upper case, lower case, special characters, spaces, etc. and in the correct order.

  • Online registration for students: You have a matriculation number?
Be sure to write your matriculation number. The course fee is only very low for students.

  • Online registration for students: You don't have a matriculation number yet?
If you do not yet have a matriculation number, you can enter your date of birth - e.g. 4 February 1995 like this: 04021995. Make sure to write the day, then the month, then the year.
Note: As soon as you receive your matriculation number, you must bring it as soon as possible in person to the Secretary's Office or by email (spraz@verwaltung.uni-hohenheim.de), otherwise you will not be able to receive a certificate at the end of the course. (Please indicate name, course name, and level!)

  • Online registration: You think your points don't match your level?
You can prove a lower or higher course level by talking to us and writing something in German about a task. Go to the advising at the Lektorat Deutsch als Fremdsprache during the registration period (for details see “Enrollment" in the semester)

  • Online registration: Would you like to attend more than one course?
At levels B2 and C1 you can attend more than one German course at the same time. You can inform yourself using the course description or you can consult the Lektorat für Deutsch als Fremdsprache.
At levels A1-B1 you can only attend one course. But the language training I or II can be booked in addition to your language course.

  • Online registration: You have 4x4 TestDaF and do not want to take a placement test?
No problem: This is not possible online, but if you bring a copy of your TestDaF certificate with you to the advising session of the Lektorat DaF or scan it and send it by email to uta.aifan@verwaltung.uni-hohenheim.de, we can register you for C1 courses

  • Online registration: You did not pass the final test, but do not want to repeat the course?
You can study in the Mediathek or at home or, for example, attend language training I or II, and then take the new placement test (from 1 April or 1 October). If you get enough points, you can attend the follow-up course.
At level B2 or C1 you simply choose another course.

  • Online registration: You could not attend the German course to the end or could not participate in the final examination?
    You can repeat the course,
or you can study in the Mediathek or at home or, for example, attend language training I or II and then take the new placement test (from 1 April or 1 October). If you get enough points, you can attend the follow-up course. If you have passed the final test of the course (e.g. A2.2), you will automatically receive enough points to register online for the next level (e.g. B1.1).

  • After the course starts: Is the course too difficult or too easy for you?
Talk to the lecturer within the first week. If the lecture shares your opinion, he or she can give you a written recommendation with which you can sign up for a different course in the Secretary's Office if you wish and if there is still a place available

  • After the course starts: Would you like to take another course at the same level?
You can change courses within the first two weeks and transfer to the other course in the Secretary's Office.
