Helmut Aurenz Scholarships

 

 

What is funded? Honorary senator Helmut Aurenz endows scholarships at the University of Hohenheim for exceptionally gifted students who are planning a stay of several months at a university in another European country in order to study or conduct research in preparation for their final thesis.
Who is eligible?

German and international students who are regularly enrolled at the University of Hohenheim and will complete their degree here. Exchange students, short-term students and doctoral candidates are not eligible.
Applications are open to students in all faculties, with preference given to applicants from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Faculty of Natural Sciences, including Bioeconomy.

What does the scholarship consist of? The scholarship serves to (partially) finance travel and/or living expenses. The funding amounts are based on the country-specific rates set by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for the PROMOS program.

Application documents

The exact application document requirements are published each year in the official call for applications for the Helmut Aurenz Scholarship.

Required application documents usually include the following:

  • Photo
  • Exposé of the research project, including statement of motivation
  • Résumé in table form
  • Current transcript of records
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate, if applicable
  • Language certificates (min. level B2 in the working language)
  • Confirmation by the host institution
  • Letter of recommendation from the thesis supervisor at the University of Hohenheim
Application deadlines The application deadlines for the University of Hohenheim’s grant and scholarship programs can be found here.
Selection and award criteria Selection is based on academic performance and personal aptitude/motivation, as well as the quality and originality of the research project. In addition, the representation of the respective disciplines is taken into account in the selection process. Candidates are selected by the relevant Senate committee.
Responsibilities as a recipient
  • Independent submission of a final report on the research project
  • Where required, a breakdown of the use of the scholarship funds
  • Experience report on the stay abroad, no later than three months after the end of the funding period
Other Financial support can only be granted if there is no travel warning in place for the host country or region concerned, issued by the Federal Foreign Office.
