Hohenheim Prizes for Good Teaching

The Hohenheim Prizes for Good Teaching are awarded to lecturers who distinguish themselves through their special commitment and excellent performance in teaching at the University of Hohenheim. The prizes each focus on different aspects of good teaching, which are derived from the university's mission statement. The Hohenheim Prizes for Good Teaching complement the Hohenheim Teaching Prize.

The categories for the Hohenheim Prizes for Good Teaching are announced annually. They are endowed with 1,000 euros each. All members of the university, including students, are entitled to nominate candidates. Self-proposals are permitted and expressly desired. All teaching staff who didactically independently conceive and teach courses at the University of Hohenheim can be nominated.

The prizes are awarded in public during the University’s Teaching Day, where the prizes winner will unveil their concepts.

Award-giver:University of Hohenheim
Applicants:Anyone who teaches a course at the University of Hohenheim can be nominated, regardless of their career level. The proposal here must refer to a tangible course, i.e. a lecture, seminar, exercise course, etc., and not a module. The sole prerequisite is that the nominees are members of the University of Hohenheim and are responsible for and carry out the didactic conception themselves. If several lecturers plan and implement a course together, they can also be jointly proposed.
A course that has already been considered as part of an explanatory statement for a prize cannot be cited again in another category. A course that has already been considered as part of an explanatory statement for a prize but unsuccessful may be resubmitted in subsequent years.
Nomination rights:You are entitled to nominate candidates if you are a member of the University of Hohenheim, i.e. if you belong to the group of employees or students. Each year, you can only submit one proposal and only support another person’s proposal once.
Self-proposals are permitted and expressly desired.
Decision-making committee:The selection committee comprises three students, three Deans of Studies, one representative of the Educational Development Unit, and one further expert representative of the Department of Academic Affairs. The Vice President for Academic Affairs chairs the committee.
Amount of award:The prizes are endowed with € 1,000 each, which may be used freely by the prizewinners for official purposes.
Frequency of award:Annually; award presented on the Day of Teaching
Criteria for award (not conclusive):

An explanatory statement needs to be submitted with the proposal. In the explanatory statement, answer the questionnaire using the example of the nominated course to show why the nominee deserves a prize in the respective category. Please keep your answers to a maximum of 1,000 characters per question (including spaces).

The proposals will be evaluated on the basis of a list of criteria. More specific information for proposals can be found in the Guidelines for Proposers. Please note that the selection committee’s assessment of the didactic quality of the proposal is based on your explanatory statement. Lecturers who do not nominate themselves are given the opportunity to provide additional information.

Logged-in users will find a web form for submitting the proposal at the end of the table.
