You’ve had enough studying and want to finally start your career and earn your own money? With a Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Biotechnology, there are various entry-level opportunities, depending on your personal focus during your studies through electives, internships, and additional qualifications.

Food scientists develop new recipes for food and make them from various ingredients. They develop suitable packaging for the end products and accompany the production processes from the raw materials to the control of the end product. For this purpose, they work on production plants and plan and monitor production. At the same time, they always keep an eye on the costs. They perform analytical tests in the laboratory and thus monitor the quality of the products produced. The goal is to achieve consistent product quality and optimize the production process. Compliance with hygiene and safety regulations is essential in food production.

The fields of application in this area are diverse and the career prospects are very good. The life science industry has good growth prospects. As a result, the demand for qualified personnel is very high. Thus, half of all graduates find a job immediately after graduation, another third within 3 months afterwards. The annual gross income for entry-level employees is between 38,000 - 45,000 euros. This depends on occupational field, industry, and work experience (source: www.foodjobs.de).
