Dr. Hermann Eiselen Scholarship Program

Award-giver:Foundation fiat panis (formerly offered by the Father and Son Eisenlen-Foundation, Ulm)
Purpose:The foundation fiat panis awards scholarships for writing Diplom and Master’s theses in developing and emerging countries of the south in order to contribute to the fight against poverty and/or hunger or its impact.
Applicants:Students of the University of Hohenheim with above-average qualifications who have chosen a study focus relevant to development or tropics and are carrying out a research stay in a foreign country for their final thesis. The theses have to be supervised by a university lecturer of the University of Hohenheim. A team of reviewers consisting of university lecturers of the University of Hohenheim will select the scholarship candidates. The reviewers will consider the topic of the thesis in connection to the foundation and the research plan as well as the current coursework of the applicant. The topic of the thesis must be part of a research project of the supervisor and therefore contribute to the Hohenheim research activities in the region. Research projects are carried out in close cooperation with national and international research institutions of the relevant countries and on location the candidates will be supervised by scientists of these institutions.
Nomination rights:Students submit their application to the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics (Hans-Ruthenberg-Institute).
Scholarship amount:Flight costs as well as a monthly grant for living expenses; depending on the country, the grant money ranges from € 230 - € 360 per month for a maximum duration of 4 months). The average funding (between 1983 an 214) was € 1,900 per project.
