Returning lost property

Lost property may only be handed out to people who can prove without a doubt that they are the owner of the object, that they lost it, or that they are otherwise authorized to pick it up.

There must be a record of the handover.

For objects that are lost in public buildings, there is no right to a finder’s fee.

Giving away lost property that is not picked up

Money is stored by the Cashier's Office for three years and then transferred to the state budget.

Other lost objects that are not picked up after the storage deadline are donated to a charitable cause.
