Abstract

Salannolactam-(21) (I) and salannolactam-(23) (II), the first tetranortriterpenoid lactams found in Meliaceae, were isolated from MeOH exts. of A. indica seed kernels. The structures were detd. from NMR, IR, and mass spectral data. I and II showed antifeedant activity towards the Mexican bean beetle Epilachna varivestis.
