Abstract

The goal of this paper is a reassessment of the Action Workflow approach, a well-known application of the Language Action Perspective (LAP). Based on empirical work, we will assess the Action Workflow approach with reference to its suitability for the modeling of business processes. Three case studies are presented, and the Guidelines of Modeling developed by Becker et al. [Becker et al., 1999] are applied to the ActionWorkflow approach. We discuss advantages as well as shortcomings of the Action Workflow.
