Abstract

Chromatog. of the petroleum ether and ether exts. from the fruit of M. azedarach afforded 6 tetranortriterpenoids (ohchinolide A, ohchinolide B, nimbolidin A (I), nimbolidin B (II), nimbolinin B (III), and 1-deacetylnimbolinin (IV)) the structures for which were detd. by NMR, IR, and mass spectral analyses. Oxidn. of the lactol III gave the lactone ohchinolide B. The ohchinolides A and B gave I and III, resp., on methanolysis followed by acetylation.
