NMR data of the B2Cl4-B2Br4 indicated ligand redistribution with the formation of B2BrCl3, sym. and unsym. B2Br2Cl2, and B2Br3Cl. In the B2F4-B2Cl4 system, the presence of BF3, BFCl2, and B2F4-nCln were detd. The degree of exchange was greater in the B2Cl4-B2Br4 system. BI3 reacted with B2Cl4 to give B2I4 which was characterized by mass and vibrational spectra.
