Abstract

The first enantioselective synthesis of the title neo-trans-clerodanes (I) (R = H, Me; R1 = =O, .alpha.OAc) from (-)-verbenone has been accomplished using the ene reaction and stereoselective conjugate addn. reaction to the enone (II) as the key step.
