Abstract

A screening of several tannin extracts has shown that some have a potential to reduce methane production (MP) (1). For a comprehensive evaluation of their suitability it is necessary to consider possible effects on ruminal nutrient fermentation and microbial yield. The objective was to quantify the effects of five selected tannin extracts on MP, nutrient degradation and efficiency of microbial protein synthesis (EMPS).
