The in situ technique was originally applied for studying nutrient degradation of forages in the rumen. In recent years it was increasingly used alsofor the evaluation of concentrates. Many methodical details affect the outcome of in situ studies, and published data suggest an overestimation of rate and extent of starch degradation for rapidly degradable grains due to secondary starch particle loss during incubation (1). There-fore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nylon bag pore size in ruminal starch degradation
studies using different cereal grains.
