Abstract

I (1,3-diacetyl-11,19-deoxa-11-oxomeliacarpin), a possible intermediate in the biosynthesis of azadirachtin, was isolated from methanolic exts. of A. indica seeds. Structure I was proposed on the basis of 1H- and 13C-NMR data.
