Fate of agrochemicals in integrated farming systems in Son La province, North Vietnam (SFB 564-B5.1)

The water regime and fate of agrochemicals in integrated paddy rice-aquaculture sys-tems is assessed in Yen Chau, Son La province. We survey the water distribution sys-tem, measure water storage and flow, and monitor the concentrations of the most im-portant agrochemicals in soils, sediments and surface waters. Based on measurements of the system characteristics, we set up a model to simulate the water regime and the environmental fate of agrochemicals. The model will serve as a tool to evaluate the impact of agrochemical use on fish production and quality of surface water.
