onSET English is an online language placement test. It enables anyone learning English as a foreign language to check their language competence - quickly, accurately, and online. The standardized test procedure ensures consistently high quality and fair testing for all participants. The dates will be announced on the Language Center’s homepage.
Registration is done online via the Language Center’s booking system.
The examination fee is €20 per test participation (see fee regulations).
Please bring your ID card with you on the day of the test and also register in advance with the onSET portal here. You will need your log-in data on the day of the test, as you will not be able to take the test without it. You will receive the TAN for booking in the onSET Portal on the day of the test in the Language Center.
The test takes about 50 minutes and the results can be printed on the same day.
Only students and employees of the University of Hohenheim can take the test.
To take the onSET test, you must book an exam date. You can book the date as soon as you have registered as a participant on www.onset.de . You will receive the TAN for booking in the onSET Portal on the day of the test in the Language Center.
Before you take the onSET, you should familiarize yourself with the test format. Use the sample test on the onSET website.
No. You won't be able to see your answers later. Even during the test, only the text that you are currently working on is displayed. You cannot return to previous tasks.
Your test result is saved permanently. You can view and print out your onSET certificate at any time in the participant portal.
If you forget your password, you can request a new password through onSET. If you forget your username, please send an email to kontakt@testdaf.de .
Only one test per semester may be taken in our Language Center.
You will receive the TAN on the day of the test at the Language Center.
Up to three calendar days before the test date, you can cancel your registration in writing at mediothek@uni-hohenheim.de. If you cancel your registration by the deadline, the fee will be refunded. Please let us know your bank details (IBAN and BIC).
