After the internship

Once you have successfully completed your internship, you should ask your internship company to give you an employment reference. For later applications, this is an important document for proof.

But note that employment references are different according to the country. Not only in terms of language, but also in terms of content, as many countries are not familiar with the classical German employment reference.
After an internship abroad, the employer there will typically not provide a certificate of internship but a “letter of recommendation” or “reference letter”.

In this letter of recommendation, your previous employer recommends you to future employers. In this letter, a contact person with all contact information of the company is provided which can be used by future companies to ask about you.

Mandatory internship

If you have completed a mandatory internship abroad, then you should also ask for an internship acknowledgement in order to provide proof of the internship for the Internship Office. So that your internship is recognized in full as quickly as possible by the Internship Office, you should start writing your internship report as soon as possible.

Travelling

If you have enough time, you should take the opportunity to travel a little. Take a few days or weeks and explore the country in which you have worked.
Maybe you got some inside tips from a colleague.
