Food Science and Biotechnology (B.Sc.)

Students can complete an internship as an elective module in the Bachelor's program in Food Science and Biotechnology.

The internship lasts four, eight, or twelve weeks.

Minimum duration of the internship

  • 4, 8 or 12 weeks
  • The internship should be done in a full-time capacity and without interruption.

Where should the internship be done?

The internship canbe done at a private company which is involved in life sciences, such as the food, pharmaceutical or cosmetics industry and many others. The enterprise must be able t give students insight into what it means to work in a particular profession within the field of life sciences and biotechnology.

The internship cannot be done at any of the institutes of the University of Hohenheim .

Proof

Please submit the following documents to the Internship Office for recognition of the internship:

  • Internship report
  • Time confirmation or work certificate (please present original)

Information about the internship report

This must be clearly structured and include a table of contents. The overview should quickly show a clear and logical structure.
Topics should be divided logically into chapters with page references. Subchapters represent another possibility for clear structuring.

Length: Max. 25 pages

Cover page:

  • Company - The company in which the internship was done
  • Name - First and last name
  • Address - The intern's address/contact details
  • Date - The month in which the internship report was written
  • Institution - The intern’s university

Main part:

  • Presentation of the company: Company’s history, business model, legal form, target groups, locations, future
  • Duration of the internship
  • Tasks in the internship, project completed (at least 70% share):
    This part of the internship report is not intended to describe each individual activity in detail, but to give an overview of all activities performed. The aim is to reflect on the most relevant contents of the internship. You should discuss how the knowledge and skills acquired during your studies were used.
  • Summary and assessment of the internship position

Formal structure of the internship report:
font size 12, margins left and right 2.5 cm.
The entire internship report must be numbered consecutively. Quotations and other information from sources of other authors must be clearly marked.
Punctuation and spelling mistakes should not occur!

The report must be countersigned by the internship supervisor. However, the supervisor does not have to be provided with the summary and assessment of the internship position.
