Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV)

The most important information about the central application procedure

You would like to apply for a Bachelor's program at the University of Hohenheim that has a limited number of places? Then you must first register for the Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV) run by Hochschulstart before you can apply to the University of Hohenheim using the online application portal HohCampus.

These degree programs participate in the DoSV:

On this page, we would like to give you a brief overview of the Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure. If you need assistance, you can contact the Central Student Counselling Center (ZSB).

You can find detailed information about the service procedure on the Hochschulstart website.

 Checklist for the DoSV

What is the DoSV?

The Dialog-Oriented Service Procedure (DoSV) supports the participating universities in allocating study places and thus ensures that the places are allocated more quickly and efficiently.

For you, the DoSV serves as a central place to keep track of your applications, as this is where all the information comes together: Which programs you have applied for, which applications have an offer of admission, and the time frame in which you must respond to the offer.

How does the DoSV work?

The DoSV takes place in three phases: Application phase, coordination phase, and coordinated move-up phase. You can find detailed information on the individual phases on the Hochschulstart website. We have summarized the most important information for you here, so that nothing can go wrong with your application to the University of Hohenheim.

  • Registration & Application

First, you need to register with Hochschulstart’s DoSV application portal. You cannot register multiple times. NOTE: Write down your applicant ID (BID) and your applicant authentication number (BAN). You will need these for the further application process. You can then apply for up to twelve degree programs throughout Germany. Programs not participating in the DoSV are not counted. When applying to the University of Hohenheim, you must provide your BID and BAN. You can apply for up to three degree programs at the University of Hohenheim.
Applications are accepted until July 15.
  • Prioritization

Next, be sure to prioritize your applications and put them in the order you want them. At the beginning, your applications are sorted and prioritized in the order you submit them. You must actively change this order to set your priority. Your highest priority is at the top. Prioritization is important because once the coordination rules take effect in the coordination phase, then if you have multiple admission offers, only the highest priority admission offer is shown: any admission offer for programs you have marked as having a lower priority are automatically deleted. This means you might miss the chance to study at your preferred university just because you didn't pay enough attention to the prioritization.
Prioritization should be completed by July 22.

  • Coordination

The University of Hohenheim grants admission according to the university's own selection procedure and sends the results to Hochschulstart in the form of a ranking list. Study places are allocated according to this ranking list until all study places are filled. If your application to the University of Hohenheim falls within the "admissible range" of the ranking list, you will receive an offer of admission from us. Since coordination is a highly dynamic process, you may still receive an offer of admission to the University of Hohenheim later in the course of the coordination phase, even if your application did not initially fall within the "admissible range."

Several admission offers may accumulate at the beginning of the coordination phase. You can check admission offers and keep an eye on your position on the published ranking lists. If you accept an offer of admission, the offer of admission becomes a "real" admission. Your other applications and admission offers will then be eliminated from the process and the application process is over for you. ATTENTION: The acceptance can not be reversed, so before accepting an admission offer, you should be sure that you want to study in that program. You will receive the admission letter including the deadline for enrollment after accepting an offer of admission in the University of Hohenheim’s HohCampus application portal.
If you do not actively accept an offer of admission, the coordination rules will take effect as of July 23 .
    DoSV Coordination Rules

With the start of the coordination rules, only one admission offer is available. If there are several admission offers, the lower-priority admission offers are automatically and immediately deleted; these then no longer participate in the procedure. However, open and higher priority applications remain. You can now actively accept an offer of admission or wait to see if you receive another offer of admission from a higher priority application. If you have not accepted an admission offer by the end of the coordination phase, the highest priority admission offer will automatically be accepted.
The coordination phase ends on August 25.
  • Coordinated move-up phase

The University of Hohenheim does not participate in the coordinated move-up procedure. If there are still vacant study places, these will first be allocated in the university’s own move-up procedure or then by lottery.

Lottery procedure

Sometimes, after the end of the regular admission process, places remain available in individual degree programs. These are then awarded by lottery. You must apply for these spots using our HohCampus application portal.
