Pre-test for all applicants for the M.Sc. program "Agricultural Economics"

Admissions regulations require that all applicants take an online pre-test. This test is meant to give you an idea of the kind of previous knowledge we expect. The result of the test is meant to show you where you might have gaps and where you should improve your knowledge in preparation for your Master's studies. 
The test is compulsory for all applicants, however, the result will not influence your chances of admission! This required self-evaluation could help you figure out whether this study program is suitable for you. We ask you to take this internet-based test in 120 minutes and without the help of others. You are only allowed to take this test once. Please have a pocket calculator ready.
The result sheet of the pretest must be uploaded as part of the application for admission into the AgEcon program, but admission will be solely based on other verifiable and certified information that you provide in your application.

Prepare yourself

It is advisable to prepare yourself by revisiting related subjects. Good undergraduate textbooks are

  • "Microeconomics" by R.S. Pindyck and D.L. Rubinfeld and
  • "Basic Econometrics" by Gujarati, D.N. and Porter, D.C. for Statistics.

Other similar textbooks will also serve the purpose.

Completing the test

  1. Access the website for the INTERNET TEST AGECON for the program Agricultural Economics.
  2. You can switch to English by clicking "Sprache" (which means "language" in German) in the upper right corner.
  3. Before starting with the test, you have to register as an external user:
    Please press the "New Account Registration" button.
  4. In the registration form, only the fields with a red star are required fields.
    Please make sure to enter your correct full name, otherwise your test result cannot be linked to your application.
  5. Your personal password will be sent to your email account.

After receiving your password you can login (“Login”).

  1. In the top row click on "Repository" and choose “Repository – home”
  2. Then go to “Projects F – J”
    Scrolling down you will find the "INTERNET TEST AGECON."
  3. Then click on PRE-TEST AGECON –  UNIVERSITY OF HOHENHEIM
  4. On the next page, you will find a short introduction giving a brief description of the test.
  5. After clicking the green button "Start the test" button, you will be presented with a list of 15 different questions.

You are free to answer the questions in any order. You can end the test by clicking the button “Finish the test”. After 120 minutes the test will be ended automatically.

Please complete the test before the application deadline and download the pdf document of the test result at the end. You need this document for your application for the study program!
