2026 UKUDLA Summer School on Data Science for Sustainable Food Systems Facing Climate Change
Join an international Summer School, bringing together students from Germany, Malawi, and South Africa.
The Summer School explores how data science can contribute to building more sustainable and resilient food systems under climate change.
Participants will take part in a diverse programme including a scientific symposium, hands-on training, excursions, and collaborative group work. Activities are designed to connect theory with practice and to develop transferable skills in systems thinking, stakeholder engagement, and interdisciplinary research.
Programme highlights include:
- A three-day symposium on indigenous and underutilised crops, focusing on agroecology, climate resilience, and value chains
- A hands-on Computational Science Hub (CSH) Summer School on remote sensing, drone operations, and AI-driven image analysis
- An excursion to Mannheim, including a site visit to John Deere
- A Food Systems Day featuring an expert lecture by Prof. Julian May
