Abstract

Personalising learning is one major avenue to address the increasing heterogeneity in today’s (high-er) education institutions. The present study discusses the design and implementation of a self-directed and personalised flipped classroom course within the IS curriculum of a German university. Follow-ing a design-based research methodology, we identify relevant kernel theories to derive general re-quirements and components for such courses, eventually describing the process of creating and im-plementing a concrete instantiation transforming an existing university course. The requirements are evaluated referring to the implemented course and to similar course concepts, showing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
