Along with ongoing globalization tendencies and a decreasing regulative power of nation states there is a persistent call for private actors to take over social responsibilities. For this reason, the International Organization for Standardization ISO set out to draft a standard on social responsibility of organizations. The article analyses the multi-organizational discourse developing this new ISO 26000. The standard serves as an example of global governance on the interface between managerial and political science while the main focus of this article is on the legitimacy of its drafting process.
