Actually, web-based search is mainly driven by textual or categorial search as supported by the well known search engines like Google, Yahoo, or many other. In contrast to this, humans use spatial information and relations between objects to structure their information and therefore ensure an efficient retrieval of them. Within this part of a research project we focus mainly on technical aspects like how to enrich web documents by geographic information and how to use these en-riched documents. Since many approaches for representing geographical informa-tion are known the approaches have to be evaluated from two points of view: a) Enriching the web documents and b) indexing the web documents by a search engine. A search engine covering the use of geographical information can be used for "lo-cal search queries" as well as for "remote search queries" and therefore add value to regional marketplaces.
