Master of Science in Agricultural Economics and Policy Reforms with special emphasis on Structural Adjustment

NATURA (Network of European Agriculture - Tropical and subtropical oriented - Universities and scientific Complexes Related with Agricultural Development) ist ein Zusammenschluß von europäischen Universitäten und Forschungsanstalten, die im Bereich der tropischen Landwirtschaft wissenschaftlich arbeiten. Ein Programm von NATURA im Bereich der Lehre ist die Erarbeitung und Durchführung von Master of Science (M.Sc.) Studiengängen, die in Entwicklungsländern angeboten werden sollen. Das NECTAR (NATURA- European Community Training Programme for Agricultural Universities in the southern Regions) Programm umfaßt insgesamt acht verschiedene Master-Studiengänge. Der Master-Studiengang ¿Agricultural Economics and Policy Reforms (with Special Emphasis on Structural Adjustment)" wird von Hohenheim koordiniert. Er umfaßt, wie die anderen sieben Studiengänge des NECTAR-Programmes, insgesamt acht Unterichtsmodule (fünf Pflicht- und drei Wahlfächer - alle in Englisch): 1. Structural adjustment and agricultural policies 2. Theory and macroeconomic measures of structural adjustment (Exchange rate, trade, fiscal, and monetary policies and the public sector), methods of evaluation, and linkages to the agricultural sector 3. Supply response within the farming systems context 4. Structural adjustment, income growth and distribution, employment, and the impact on poverty groups 5. Case studies of structural adjustment (Causes and developments leading to SAP, designing a SAP, implementation issues of SAP, and evaluation of SAP 6. - 8. Moduls are to be selected from other agricultural economic courses (e.g. Research and development and production systems).
