- How growth came into souls
The term “mental infrastructures” was coined by social psychologist Harald Welzer and introduced into the post-growth debate to shed light on the roles of thought patterns and cultural practices for social change.
We will use text to start a discussion and go into personal reflections. How is growth part of my mindset? Where is the link between growth and capitalism? How did the idea of growth historically develop?
The texts used in this workshop are inspired by Welzer, but also by other authors. The theses put forward in the texts are contentious because they cover a large historical arc and are thus highly simplistic.
- Bread Baking Workshop – Sourdough Made Easy
Since the dough needs time to rise, the workshop will start on Thursday evening with the first mix. On Friday afternoon, we will continue kneading, shaping, and finally baking together – of course, with a tasting session afterwards!
In addition, there will be plenty of tips and tricks on how you can easily bake your own bread at home.
- Envisioning the Edible University of Hohenheim
How might food shape a more sustainable, just, and joyful future at our university?
This interactive workshop invites participants to imagine how sustainable food could become a central part of everyday life at the University of Hohenheim. Together, we will explore how we eat, learn, grow, and connect through food – and what might be possible if we reimagine these practices in more holistic, equitable, and ecological ways.
We’ll dive into the practice of visioning, exploring how creativity can help us imagine alternative futures and challenge the limitations of the present. Through a guided dream journey, we will visit a campus of the future where sustainable food is visible, accessible, and meaningful. These imagined futures will come to life through collaging – a creative method to express collective dreams. What patterns emerge across our visions? What values, needs, and ideas connect us?
To deepen our reflection, we’ll introduce the Whole Institution Approach (WIA) and the concept of the hidden curriculum, linking our visions to institutional structures, cultures, and educational practices. The workshop concludes with a discussion about next steps: What would it take to move toward these visions? Which small actions or collaborations could become the first seeds of change?
Come co-create, imagine, and connect – and leave with a renewed sense of what’s possible.
- Facilitation – Processes, People & Place
- Introduction to University Politics
You’ll get an overview of how university structures work – from the student parliament and AStA, to the Senate and faculty boards – and learn how you can get involved to promote institutional change. This is your chance to discover where your ideas could take root and how to make them grow. Even small ideas can lead to meaningful change – and we’ll show you how.
