Interactions in the copper(II) ions-azithromycin system were studied by the use of spectroscopic and polarog. methods under equil. conditions. Two coordinative compds., sol. in non-aq. solvents (methanol, acetonitrile, chloroform, tetrachlorcarbon, etc.), were formed in the system. The molar metal to ligand compns. of compds. were 1:1 and 1:4. The compds. are relatively stable, stability consts. Kst being 7.94 x 10-5 (pKSt = 4.1) and 2.51 x 10-14 (pKSt =13.6) in methanol soln., and soly. product consts. Ksp being 3.98 x 10-13 (pKSt = 12.4) and 2.50 x 10-27 (pKSt = 26.6) in aq. soln., resp. The structure of the coordinative compds. CuL and CuL4 were computed by the Hyperchem program.
