Self-presentation

The self-presentation is one of the standard elements in job interviews and assessment centers. Within 3 - 5 minutes, present your background, emphasizing skills and qualifications relevant to the job. This gives the company a first impression of you and allows them to compare how well you fit the advertised position.

Structure of a self-presentation:

  • Description of your competence profile (start with studies or high school diploma, professional and personal qualifications)
  • Address professional experience (internships, working student activities) - reflect on experiences
  • Relate to requirements of the new position - why are you qualified for the job by your previous experience and profile?
  • Then discuss your motivations! What interests / excites you about the position? Why can you see this job working well for you?

Pay attention to the following in your self-presentation:

  • Identify the requirements of the job
  • Show activity or commitment
  • Make your individual profile clear
  • Find examples of personal skills
  • Describe activities in a value-free manner
  • Use key terms from day-to-day business
  • Speak calmly and clearly
