Wanted: Student Mentors for Prospective Students

Become a mentor in the project “Student for a Day”

For our pilot project “Student for a Day”, we’re looking for dedicated students from all departments who can support the prospective students in grades 10-12 in finding the right degree program for them.

As a mentor, you will first answer questions from prospective students via email and then give them an opportunity to get to know what daily life is like on campus with an in-person meeting. To prepare you, we will offer a qualification workshop. Get involved! 


  • You will answer individual questions related to your degree program and studying at the University of Hohenheim in general
  • You will share your knowledge and your personal experiences on your path to your degree program and your daily life as a student.
  • You will support prospective students in grades 10-12 in organizing a day at the University of Hohenheim and accompany them around campus.
  • The day together will take place during the lecture period, and you can flexibly set the times for your activities together with your mentee.
  • You’re a student at the University of Hohenheim and will be on campus next semester.
  • You love your degree program and are interested in topics relevant to studies.
  • You are communicative, open, and reliable - ideally, you have already had experience dealing with the target group.
  • You are happy to share your personal experiences: whether about volunteer service, time abroad, internships, hobbies, interesting research projects, work in a Fachschaft, changing subjects or universities - with this knowledge and background information, you support prospective students in deciding what to study.
  • You have the chance to do volunteer work
  • You will give assistance with study orientation
  • You can present your subject and the University of Hohenheim
  • You make new contacts - within the University of Hohenheim and beyond
  • You will be specially prepared for your activity and benefit from training sessions, workshops, and meetings
  • You will strengthen your social and communicative competences and get experience in advising
  • For your work and the continuing education courses, you will receive a certificate that you can use for your application documents
