Second degree (another degree at a level you have already completed)

Second degree applicants are persons who have already successfully completed an undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree program at a German university (including universities of applied sciences and universities of applied sciences for public administration, etc.) and are now applying for admission to another Bachelor’s degree program.

An undergraduate program is a program which does not require any previous university studies, apart from the general or subject-linked higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) and any further entrance requirements. These include, for example, Bachelor's programs or also Diplom programs.

A postgraduate program, especially with the intended degree of “Master," is not considered a second degree in this sense.

If you meet the above definition, you must apply as an applicant for a second degree program. Your admission will then be decided as part of a separate quota. The application is submitted electronically in the same way as those applying for their first degree. Information about the second degree is requested in the application process, and proof can be uploaded as files.

In general, up to three applications can be submitted for studying at the University of Hohenheim. However, those applying for a second degree may only submit one application!

Please note: The information on this page pertains to application and admission under the Second Degree Program Quota. For information on tuition and fees for a second degree program, visit the Tuition and Fees information page.
