CHE Ranking 2023:
Business Administration and Economics Top in Master's and Doctorates  [24.11.23]

The latest CHE University Ranking gives the University of Hohenheim's Master's & doctorates in Business Administration and Economics top marks.

Excellent supervision, a top range of courses, an outstanding study situation, and a particularly high number of doctorates: The current ranking by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) confirms the excellent educational conditions for Master's students and early career researchers at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart. This time, the Master's degree programs “Management," "International Business and Economics," “Economics," and the part-time program "Master in Finance" were evaluated. Students had already rated the study conditions in the Bachelor's degree programs as outstanding in May 2023. A selection of the results was published on 11 November 2023 in the student magazine ZEIT Campus. Among Master's students, the University of Hohenheim scores highly in business administration and in business and economic sciences: Students praise the good supervision and outstanding range of courses as well as the research and practical orientation and digital teaching elements. In both subjects – and in the field of economics –, the University of Hohenheim also achieved excellent rankings in terms of doctorates per professor.


These top grades identify the University of Hohenheim as a superb career springboard in academics or business. When evaluating degree programs, the CHE relies on objective figures about studies, teaching, and equipment as well as on the judgment of students.

Of the entire range of subjects at the University of Hohenheim, only some of the degree programs are re-ranked each year. The update takes place every three years. The majority of degree programs – such as those in agricultural sciences – are not ranked by CHE.


BACKGROUND: CHE University Ranking

According to its own information, the CHE University Ranking is the most comprehensive comparison of universities in Germany. CHE classifies the degree programs in Business Administration (BA), Economics, and Business Administration and Economics. The current ranking is based on the opinions of around 11,000 Master's students and other objective criteria. The CHE University Ranking does not assign rankings to individual universities as in other rankings, but assigns universities to the top, middle, or bottom group for individual criteria.
