University welcomes VVS fee reform

An important goal of Hohenheim’s Master Plan is to make public transport more attractive to University members. In this context, the President’s Office expressly welcomes the VVS fee reform that will become effective as of 1 April 2019. Taking the bus and train will become cheaper for many users.

Among other changes, today’s fee zones 10 and 20 in Stuttgart will only be fee zone 1, the sector boundaries in the outer rings will be erased, and the two outer rings 60 and 70 will be put together in the new fee zone 5. In 2019 the VVS will not increase its fees. This means: For the same route in the areas mentioned, you can either purchase a cheaper ticket or continue to travel at the same price. The system will also become easier to understand: Five ring zones will be created from the current 52 zones. The reform was made possible by the state’s agreement to compensate for the VVS’s loss of profits.
