Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium)

The funding program “Germany scholarship” was developed by the federal government with the goal of supporting and funding students at universities in Germany according to their performance and talent.

In the form of a matching fund, the contribution of private sponsors (companies, foundations, associations, alumni, private individuals) to a scholarship of 150 euros per month is doubled by the state (companies can deduct the scholarship from their taxes), so that scholarships of 300 euros per month can be financed jointly by the state and private sponsors. The University of Hohenheim has the task of raising funds for this scholarship from private scholarship providers and selecting the scholarship recipients as part of a selection procedure. In the winter semester 2023/24, a maximum of 1.5% of the students at Hohenheim (126 scholarships) can receive a scholarship, subject to financing by private donors. The scholarships are awarded at a festive event.

The selection criteria include outstanding academic performance as well as social involvement and the willingness to take responsibility, e.g. in a club, political organization or within the family or community.

Special personal circumstances, such as family-related issues, e.g. having a migratory background, are also taken into consideration. Underlying the selection process is the conviction that society and business need young talent in the form of persons who are prepared to go above and beyond their professional qualifications and take charge and master difficult situations.

The University of Hohenheim welcomes and supports this program so that the academic careers of young adults are not hindered by financial hurdles, but rather such individuals are provided with even more incentive to strive ahead.
