Finding accommodation

The private housing market offers everything from shared flats and furnished rooms to one-bedroom studios and entire apartments.

Finding affordable accommodation in Stuttgart is not always easy. Rooms in shared flats (WGs) are particularly attractive as they are relatively cheap. They also enable you to make friends quickly in a new environment. Each tenant has their own bedroom. The kitchen and bathroom/shower/WC are shared with the other tenants.

  • Expect to pay between € 350 and € 550 a month for a single room and between € 500 and € 800 for an apartment.
  • Check whether additional costs (utilities: heating, water, caretaker service and waste charges) are included in the rent or are charged separately.

Internet

There are numerous apartment listings on the Internet. An overview is not possible here. A quick search with your trusted search engine will give you some portals with offers.

Newspapers and journals

  • Bulky waste: Published Thursday and available at newsstands and gas stations. There is also an online version.
  • Flea market: Published Tuesday and Friday
  • Stuttgarter Wochenblatt (has the most classified ads): is delivered on Thursday evening, but is already available at newsstands in the morning.
  • Stuttgarter Zeitung and Stuttgarter Nachrichten have the same classifieds section. Apartment ads appear on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is also an online version.
  • Filderblatt (Fridays), Plieninger Rundschau, and other local advertising papers distributed free of charge

Pay attention to the date in the ads to avoid wasting time with outdated offers. Arrange a viewing appointment in a timely manner.
