Liability & Insurance
When participating in Uni Sport, all students registered at the University of Hohenheim have insurance coverage from the statutory accident insurance insofar as they are participating in official events of Uni Sport under the direction of employed course instructors or sport instructors.
Official events are all of the sports listed in the sports program as well as additionally offered sport offers in the context of Uni Sport.
For sporting accidents on the University premises which occur outside of the official sporting events, there is no insurance coverage.
For employees of the University of Hohenheim, regular Uni Sport events are considered company-facilitated sports activities (Betriebssport) insofar as they take place immediately before or after working hours and are under the supervision of the employed course or sport instructors.
For civil servant participants of Uni Sport, there is no right to accident compensation.
Accidents involving people must be immediately reported to Uni Sport, as the insurance requires claims to be filed within 3 days.
All other persons participate in Uni Sport at their own risk.
Minors may only participate with the written permission of Uni Sport.
No further claims for damages exist vis-à-vis Uni Sport or its employees. This applies in particular to cases of theft or damage of private property in the halls, rooms, and courts used by Uni Sport.
In addition, it is recommended that all participants in Uni Sport have private liability insurance to cover cases in which damage to persons or property resulting in liability claims is caused to third parties in the course of the sporting activity.
To cover personal damage to yourself, private accident insurance is recommended.
