EU and national level policies increasingly intervene in organic farming. In consequence, a sector that has initialy been shaped by a pluralist social movement is confronted with a well established policy area. This book analyses the interaction between organisations of the organic farming sector and general agricultural institutions. A network analysis focuses on the questions: Who has the power in the organic farming policymaking process? Is the plurality of the social movement reflected in the political structure? What are the attitudes of the policy makers towards organic farming? On this basis, the study outlines political strategies for the organic sector.

This book provides policy makers, the private sector, researchers and students in the field of general and organic agricultural policy with an up-to-date analysis of the political structure of organic farming in Europe. It includes the first comprehensive comparison of organic farming networks in Europe.
